A New World: Prologue
Concussive explosions could be heard through the scorching air, a daze over his slowly waking mind. As his eyes opened an orange light appeared to be coming from his left, and he was staring straight at a blue sky. Tall structures that reflected much of the light were all around his field of vision with gaps between them. He remembered that these structures were called skyscrapers, but how he knew was a mystery. Before he could try moving there was a bright flash that filled his vision, and a humanoid shape appeared standing over him, blackened by the flash.
“So this is what these people call ‘cities,’ I am rather disappointed. They only bring death and destruction to them, and they have too much ugly metal and glass,” the shape said, a deep, gravelly male voice. “They should have stayed with good old stone and wood. Am I right?” The shape looked down at him before scoffing, “Bah, you’ll be dead soon, and there is nothing you nor anyone alive can do to stop me from my plans. Not even their great ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ can stop my conquest.” During this ranting the sky turned more of a fiery red, and it seemed to be focused on an area far away. He couldn’t tell which geographic direction it was before the shape reached down and grasped a tattered shirt on his chest, “not even the Order has been able to stop me, Gelteron Ilthiria, a name that shouldn’t even exist in this place. Not even your sister was able to stop me.” The shape let go of him, the man who didn’t recognize the name this shape had given him, but had accidentally awoken the name in which he knew was his, Jerry Beltoven. This was the only true thing that he knew of himself, the only memory that told him who he was.
“Not… *Cough* name,” Jerry whispered weakly.
“What was that?” the shape said in a questioning tone whilst looking back down.
    “Not… my… name.”
“Oh, this is comical, the transfer made you lose your memory.”
After this statement the shape started to laugh manically before he turned away from the red light. The light that had taken precedence over a suddenly darkened sky. The shape then proceeded to march away, a sound of metal on rock sounding for each footstep. Jerry knew that the light was the definite sign of a nuclear explosion, why would the shape have been looking at it and saying that he wasn’t going to be stopped by it otherwise. Who was that man, why did he speak so strangely, what was going on? Suddenly there was a sudden pain in his abdomen, and he looked down to see a piece of rebar going through it, surrounded by his blood. This raised another question into Jerry’s mind, ‘Why wasn’t I feeling this pain before?’ Before Jerry could inquire further into this two more shapes appeared over him, and the pain became blinding and caused Jerry to pass out.
This is the third attempt at an introduction for A New World. Just a fact, all of these beginnings were supposed to lead to similar story arcs, however the writing of the previous two attempts just didn't get there the way I wanted to. That was not helped by the fact that my major story arc changed over time as I introduced myself to FanFiction and many great writers on this site. Now I am set on a story arc, and this one is turning out in a way that I enjoy reading it after I write it.

Chapter 1 is in the works right now, hopefully it will be up before the New Year. No promises though, because life has screwed me over before, and I know that it will attempt to do so again.

Edit (19 Jan. 2016): Alright, I got tired of thinking that the title of "A New World" was too cliche, if that is even the right word to use. When Chapter 2 goes up maybe the name will make sense, but I have to get through this writer's block first.
